Board Chair ~ Kelly Bemus ~ With over 15 years of experience in charter schools, Kelly Bemus brings more than two decades of educational excellence to West Maple Charter School. Throughout her career serving diverse student populations, she has built a reputation for equity-driven practices, operational innovation, and data-informed leadership. Ms. Bemus has consistently driven academic and operational growth across every area of school performance, from leading comprehensive curriculum adoption—which yielded student achievement outcomes that surpassed both local district and state averages—to coaching and evaluating educators annually to cultivate high-performing teaching teams. Her operational expertise includes designing master schedules that maximize instructional and planning time, streamlining key school auxiliary programs, and reducing operating costs through strategic vendor management. Earlier in her career, she expanded access to advanced coursework across multiple high schools and enjoyed coaching students towards successful ventures beyond high school. Ms. Bemus earned her B.S. in Mathematics and M.Ed. in Secondary Education from the University of Florida, and holds an Educational Specialist degree from Kennesaw State University.
Board Treasurer ~ Horace Tidwell ~ Horace Tidwell brings decades of hands-on operational leadership, strategic oversight, and a deep commitment to youth development to West Maple Charter School. Drawing on 35 years of industry experience and successful business ownership, he offers strong business acumen, effective budget management, and a practical approach to risk management and safety compliance. Complementing his operational expertise is over 15 years of dedicated community involvement, where he has actively mentored children and teens to support their social, emotional, and personal growth. Mr. Tidwell's unique blend of practical leadership and passion for youth advocacy helps foster a safe, well-governed, and supportive environment where West Maple students can thrive.
Board Secretary ~ Zay Mason ~ Uxivyon Mason is an accomplished elementary educator with more than 10 years of experience advancing student achievement and fostering positive school communities. As an Elementary Certified Teacher and EIP Interventionist, she specializes in using data-driven instruction, targeted interventions, and collaborative leadership to improve academic outcomes for students in grades K–5. Her work has resulted in measurable student growth through research-based literacy and mathematics interventions while strengthening partnerships among teachers, families, and school leaders. Mrs. Mason holds an Education Specialist degree in Teacher Leadership, a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an ESOL Endorsement, and a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. Her background in instructional leadership, curriculum development, and school improvement equips her with a strong understanding of effective governance, strategic planning, and accountability in education. Committed to educational excellence and servant leadership, Ms. Mason is passionate about supporting high-quality learning environments where every student has the opportunity to thrive. She brings a collaborative, student-centered perspective to board service and is dedicated to advancing the mission and long-term success of charter schools.

Throughout her distinguished career as a school administrator, curriculum specialist, educational consultant, and reading tutor, she has established a reputation as a motivational speaker and creative organizer committed to student achievement and community engagement. Dr. Kearse’s extensive background encompasses designing impactful learning programs, supporting teacher development, and implementing targeted reading interventions that empower diverse student populations to excel. In addition to her administrative and consulting achievements, her lifelong commitment to the arts as a music instructor highlights her holistic approach to nurturing student potential. Dr. Kearse holds a Doctor of Education and an Education Specialist degree from Argosy University.

Ms. Mack’s background in customer advocacy and systems management makes her a natural at creating clear communication, navigating detail-heavy processes, and keeping vital school information secure and organized. Her thoughtful, solution-oriented approach helps foster a welcoming, inclusive, and well-structured environment where students, staff, and families always feel heard and supported. Ms. Mack holds a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Bay Path University, with coursework in Computer & Information Sciences.

Grounded in her leadership principle of empowering people to elevate performance, Ms. Berg excels at building meaningful relationships, navigating dynamic environments, and maintaining a welcoming, well-structured atmosphere for the entire community. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Spanish from Kennesaw State University—a background she leverages to support bilingual communication and inclusive community outreach—alongside advanced certifications in operational management and executive leadership.
